Grade 6

DAY 1: Draw your own staff. Make eight measures with bar lines. Don't forget to put a double bar at the end! Next, make a G clef and choose a time signature to place next to it. Now place quarter notes, half notes, quarter rests and half rests on the staff. Now you can play your own song! What did you use for a percussion instrument? I look forward to hearing your music! Now make up your own 4-beat patterns like we practice in class. I look forward to hearing your patterns! For DAY 2 compose two 4-beat patterns that can be played at the same time. You can use quarter notes, eighth notes or sixteenth notes (Colorado). When you practice, I would like you to count your rhythm out loud as you play it! Once you've created your 4-beat patterns, please write down the notes in two measures. Good luck! For DAY 3, research the Baroque period in music to find other composers besides Bach, Vivaldi and Handel and prepare a short summary like the ones we do in class. Be sure to include one of their important compositions!
