Grade 3

DAY 1: Draw your own staff. Make four measures with bar lines. Don't forget to put a double bar line at the end! Put quarter notes, half notes and quarter rests on the staff. Now you can play your own song! What did you use for an instrument? Now practice singing your favorite songs from music class and see how many of the lyrics you can remember: When The Holidays Come (Ring the bells and play the drums. Do a little dance when the holidays come - Sing a song and hum a hum. Play a little tune when the holidays come....), Island Christmas (Winter's here the north wind blows. Numbs your ears and numbs your toes. Got to get away somewhere. Where there's sunshine in the air. If you're sick of ice and snow, pack your bags, come on let's go...) The Chipmunk Song (Christmas, Christmas time is near. Time for toys and time for cheer. We've been good but we can't last. Hurry Christmas, hurry fast!...) If I Were a Reindeer (where would I be?...)

For DAY 2 it would be a good idea to focus on memorizing our songs for the concert. Good luck memorizing! DAY 3 To help remember the names of the notes on the staff, draw your own staff with 5 lines. Just place a G clef at the beginning and a double bar at the end. Starting with E from empty, place whole notes on all the lines and put the correct letter underneath each note. Then place whole notes in all four spaces starting with F from face and label each of those. You should have a total of 9 notes including two E's and two F's. Now you have your own notes to look at and study!
