Grade 4

DAY 1: Practice singing our songs for the concert. Do you remember the melodies? Here are some of the lyrics: Oh, light up the spotlight. You're in for a great night. The timing is right for a show! The cam'ras are steady. The dancers are sweaty. The actors are ready to go! Oh, we're making a movie about Santa Claus. Lights! Camera! Christmas! - Mr. Frosty, Frosty Winter, why'd you have to come around? We were happy with the autumn, then you had to come to town. With your cold wind, your cold wind blowin'. And all that, and all that snowin'. You're really, you're really goin' too far, too far! Oh! - Santa's having trouble with the chimneys. They're not so easy squeezy these days. To spread his Christmas joy, he's chosen to employ some changes to his lifestyle right away. He's up to thirty minutes on the treadmill. He put those Christmas cookies away. He's gonna get in shape no matter what it takes. The Christmas Eve tradition is at stake! For DAY 2 it would be a good idea to focus on memorizing our songs for the concert. See how many of the lyrics you can remember without the sheets to look at! On DAY 3 I would like you to write down the notes of your own song for recorder. First, draw your own staff (5 lines) and place bar lines so you have 4 measures. Make a G clef and a 4/4 time signature. Don't forget the double bar line at the end. Make sure you only use the notes B, A and G in your music, unless you know how to play other notes. You're welcome to use quarter notes, half notes, whole notes and quarter rests. I'll be looking forward to hearing your song when you return to music class!
